Surgical Residency Emphasis Tract Internship

The Surgical Tract Internship is comprised of four-week rotations. This allows for twelve rotations and four weeks of vacation. This tract is designed to give the intern more surgical experience, but does not guarantee acceptance into the residency program. The Internship is comprised of the following rotations:

While on the Surgical Services, the Intern will work under supervision of Surgical Attendings and Residents. Responsibilities will parallel surgical resident responsibilities, which include a mix of in-patient and ambulatory care, trauma, and operative experience.

2 Months of Internal Medicine

While on the medicine service, the Intern will work side by side with Internal Medicine Residents under the supervision of Attending Internists and Senior Residents.

1 Month of Emergency Medicine

While in the Emergency Department, the Intern will work under the supervision of Emergency Medicine Attendings and Residents.

1 Month Obstetrics and Gynecology

While on the Ob/Gyn service, Interns work under the supervision of Ob/Gyn Attendings. Outpatient Ob/Gyn, labor and delivery, and In-patient Ob/Gyn services are all provided at St. Barnabas Hospital.
