Description
of Program
The program is accredited by the American
College of Osteopathic Surgeons for 4 years of training, leading to eligibility
to sit for the ACOS Boards in General Surgery. There is approval for twelve (12)
residents from the PGY 2 through PGY5 positions.
Application
Process
We participate in the ERAS application service. Prospective
surgical residents apply through the ERAS application service when applying for
internships, as we have a Surgical Track internship that will apply towards the
PGY 1 year in Surgery. Interviews are held regularly from October through
December. Acceptance to the Program in most cases implies completing all 4
years, and only under extraordinary circumstances will early departure from the
program take place. We do accept residents from other institutions as long as
they have an approved osteopathic internship, when openings are present.
Additionally medical students from NYCOM, PCOM, as well as other institutions
rotate through the department on a regular basis, as do interns.
Rotations
Outside rotations include New
York Presbyterian Babies and Children’s Hospital (Pediatric Surgery), Memorial
