The Human Resources Department
at St. Barnabas Hospital serves as the central personnel unit
for the hospital’s staff. Human Resources handles personnel
and employment functions from the pre-recruitment stages all
the way through post-employment…with a variety of functions in
between! HR makes recommendations on employee issues such as
promotions, disciplinary action, new policies & procedures,
etc. Our main function is to assist the employees and to
ensure that the hospital runs as efficiently as possible.
Some of the services handled
by HR include:
-
Benefits
(disability, flexible spending, healthcare, 403B plan)
-
Recruitment (recruit prospective employees, review resumes,
provide applications, schedule interviews, conduct and
attend job fairs)
-
Wage &
Salary (deductions, personal information changes,
garnishments, salary adjustments, direct debit, tax
information)
-
Records/Letters (employment verifications, background
checks, references)
-
Workers’
Compensation (including meeting OSHA requirements)
-
Employee
Files
It is very important that all
employees at St. Barnabas have the proper paperwork on file
while they are employed. This includes proper certifications,
tax information, evaluations, I-9 compliance forms, etc. All
files are compiled and maintained in the Human Resources
Department.
Employee
Complaints/Concerns
Another very important
function of HR is that employees may utilize it as a resource
through which they can express any complaints, comments or
concerns they may have in their work environment. Reports
involving harassment & discrimination, employee conflicts,
evaluations, terminations, etc. will be fully investigated by
Human Resources.
Other Services
At St. Barnabas Hospital, we
like to recognize the employees that work hard every day to
contribute to the hospital’s success. The Department commends
such hard work by organizing employee of the month awards.
This is followed each year by a celebration for an employee of
the year. All winners receive prizes and a small party
attended by their coworkers. Additionally, HR coordinates
Employee Service Awards each year to recognize those employees
who have been with the hospital from 5 years and beyond! |
