St. Barnabas
Hospital’s Cancer Center offers more than just medical care
and information to patients—we treat the whole person,
tending to the emotional and physical needs of patients.
Patients
often rely on the advice of family and friends to deal with
concerns about their appearance. Look Good…Feel Better
(LGFB) is a program sponsored by the American Cancer Society
and National Cosmetology Association to help patients
undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatment cope with
appearance-related side effects, such as dry skin, or
thinning hair and eyebrows.
St. Barnabas
Hospital is pleased to regularly offer patients LGFB
workshops for small groups. Led by volunteer beauty
professionals, patients learn beauty techniques to address
side effects and restore their self-image during treatments,
and other useful tips and information about how treatments
may affect skin and hair care during this challenging time.
LGFB also
provides information for men. Please contact the Cancer
Center at 1-800-240-6147 or the American Cancer
Society at 1-800-395-LOOK
