The Department of Emergency Medicine at St.
Barnabas Hospital is a full-service department, providing
24-hour expert emergency care to 95,000 patients annually.
Patients are treated by career emergency physicians, each of
whom is residency trained and board eligible/certified in the
specialty of emergency medicine, assisted by a highly
qualified and caring group of emergency nurses and technical
personnel.
The Emergency Department’s diagnostic and
therapeutic equipment is state of the art, with recent
additions of a Pediatric Emergency Department and a trauma
resuscitation wing. Home to the
largest emergency medicine residency-training program in New
York, St. Barnabas is also proud to be preparing future
experts for practice in the field of emergency medicine.
St. Barnabas Hospital is a designated 911
Receiving Hospital, a Regional Trauma Center (Level 1), an
Emergency Heart Care Center, and the first hospital in the
Bronx to be designated as a Stroke Center. From the newborn to
the elderly to everyone in between, all patients are treated
with the same level of compassion and expertise, regardless of
their medical problems or ability to pay. It is with pride
that we offer a full range of emergency services to the
community we serve. |
