The
Department of Dentistry at St. Barnabas Hospital provides
comprehensive dental care to patients of all ages. Last year
the Department provided more than 35,000 outpatient visits
along with ambulatory surgery, IV sedation and inpatient
care. Medically compromised patients and persons with
disabilities are always welcome.

Attending staff is primarily hospital-trained general
practitioners along with specialists in every field:

The
attending staff trains over 35 residents a year in General
Practice, Pediatric and Orthodontic Residency programs.
Emergency Care
While
the clinic treats patients by appointment, emergency care is
also provided during these sessions. After hours, emergency
care is provided through the Emergency Department by on-call
dental residents.
Facilities and Equipment
The main
dental facility, completed in November 1990, houses thirteen
operatories, a laboratory, panorex room, ceph room, dark room,
dispensing room, sterilization room and administrative area.
Each operatory contains its own x-ray unit and central nitrous
oxide hookup. There is a contemporary dental facility inside
the main hospital, which services inpatients, outpatients, and
Nursing Home residents. In addition, two fully computerized
satellite facilities provide unique clinical experiences. One
site has 6 operatories and a fully functioning dental lab.
The newest site, Union Community Health Center, houses 13
operatories, which includes a 2-chair and 3- chair ortho
suite. There are 6 dental lasers throughout the sites.
